Crown Liability and Proceedings Act

193. Subsection 6(2) of the French ver sion of the Crown Liability and Proceedings Act is replaced by the following:

195. Sections 360 and 361 of the Canada Shipping Act, being chapter S-9 of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1970, are repealed.

TERMINOLOGY CHANGES TO OTHER ACTS

General

``steamship''

196. (1) The following provisions are amended by replacing the word ``steam ship'' with the word ``ship``:

    (a) paragraph 4(1)(a) of the Fish Inspec tion Act; and

    (b) subsection 7(1) of the English version of the Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act.

(2) The following provisions are amended by replacing the word ``steamship'' with the word ``shipping``:

    (a) paragraph 16(f) of the Northwest Territories Act;

    (b) paragraph 23(1)(q) of the Nunavut Act; and

197. The English version of the Canada Ports Corporation Act is amended by replac ing the word ``seamen'' with the word ``seafarers'' in the following provisions:

    (a) subsection 43(5); and

    (a) section 2; and

CONDITIONAL AMENDMENTS

Bill C-25

200. If Bill C-25, introduced in the second session of the thirty-fifth Parliament and entitled An Act respecting regulations and other documents, including the review, regis tration, publication and parliamentary scru tiny of regulations and other documents, and to make consequential and related amend ments to other Acts, is assented to, then, on the later of the day on which section 1 of that Act comes into force and the day on which subsection 2.2(6) of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by section 2 of this Act, comes into force, subsection 2.2(6) of the Canada Shipping Act is replaced by the following:

Incorporated material is not a regulation

(6) Material that is incorporated by refer ence in a regulation made under this Act is not a regulation for the purposes of the Regula tions Act.

Bill C-26

201. If Bill C-26, introduced in the second session of the thirty-fifth Parliament and entitled An Act respecting the oceans of Canada, is assented to, then

    (a) on the day on which paragraph 41(1)(c) of that Act comes into force, paragraph 41(1)(c) of that Act is replaced by the following:

    (c) pleasure craft safety, the licensing of pleasure craft and pleasure craft operators and the regulation of the construction, inspection, equipment and operation of pleasure craft;

    (b) on the day on which section 96 of that Act comes into force, subsection 422(2) of the English version of the Canada Ship ping Act is replaced by the following:

(2) The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans has throughout Canada the general superin tendence of all matters relating to wreck and receivers of wreck.

Bill C-44

202. If Bill C-44, introduced in the second session of the thirty-fifth Parliament and entitled An Act for making the system of Canadian ports competitive, efficient and commercially oriented, providing for the establishing of port authorities and the divesting of certain harbours and ports, for the commercialization of the St. Lawrence Seaway and ferry services and other matters related to maritime trade and transport and amending the Pilotage Act and amending and repealing other Acts as a consequence, is assented to, then, on the later of the day on which paragraph 106(1)(a) of that Act comes into force and the day on which the definition ``registraire'' in section 2 of the French version of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by subsection 1(9) of this Act, comes into force, paragraph 106(1)(a) of the French version of that Act is replaced by the following:

    (a) le registraire responsable du registre dans lequel le navire est immatriculé;

Bill C-58

203. If Bill C-58, introduced in the second session of the thirty-fifth Parliament and entitled An Act to amend the Canada Ship ping Act (maritime liability), is assented to, then

    (a) on the later of the day on which section 2 of that Act comes into force and the day on which section 139 of this Act comes into force, subsection 578(1) of the Cana da Shipping Act, as enacted by section 139 of this Act, is repealed; and

    (b) on the later of the day on which section 2 of that Act comes into force and the day on which section 140 of this Act comes into force, subsections 581(1) to (3) of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by section 140 of this Act, are repealed.

Bill C-62

204. If Bill C-62, introduced in the second session of the thirty-fifth Parliament and entitled An Act respecting fisheries, is ass ented to, then

    (a) on the later of the day on which subsection 118(2) of that Act comes into force and the day on which the definition ``seafarer'' in section 2 of the English version of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by subsection 1(8) of this Act, comes into force, subsection 118(2) of the English version of that Act is amended by replacing the word ``seamen'' with the word ``seafarers'';

    (b) on the later of the day on which subsection 150(3) of that Act comes into force and the day on which the definition ``seafarer'' in section 2 of the English version of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by subsection 1(8) of this Act, comes into force, subsection 150(3) of the English version of that Act is amended by replacing the word ``seamen'' with the word ``seafarers''; and

    (c) on the later of the day on which subsection 177(2) of that Act comes into force and the day on which the definition ``seafarer'' in section 2 of the English version of the Canada Shipping Act, as enacted by subsection 1(8) of this Act, comes into force, subsection 177(2) of the English version of that Act is amended by replacing the word ``seamen'' with the word ``seafarers''.

REPEAL

Repeal

205. An Act to amend and consolidate the Acts relating to the office of Port Warden for the Harbour of Montreal, chapter 45 of the Statutes of Canada, 1882, as amended by chapter 8 of the Statutes of Canada, 1980-81-82-83, and by chapter 32 of the Statutes of Canada, 1991, is repealed.

COMING INTO FORCE

Coming into force

206. (1) Subject to subsection (2), this Act or any of its provisions, or any provision enacted or amended by this Act, comes into force on a day or days to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.

Exception

(2) Sections 170, 186 to 190 and 200 to 204 come into force on the day on which this Act is assented to.
