SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi sur les pêches afin d’autoriser le ministre des Pêches et des Océans à établir des programmes de pêche sélective pour permettre la conservation de toute espèce de poisson qui risque d’être surexploitée et promouvoir la pêche d’espèces dont les stocks sont sains.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Fisheries Act to authorize the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans to establish selective fishing programs to allow for the conservation of any species of fish that is at risk of overexploitation and to promote the fishing of species of which there are healthy stocks.

1 La Loi sur les pêches est modifiée par adjonction, après l’article 6.2, de ce qui suit :
1 The Fisheries Act is amended by adding the following after section 6.2:

Selective fishing programs
6.21 (1) Le ministre peut, dans le cadre d’une mesure mise en œuvre en application du paragraphe 6.1(1) ou d’un plan élaboré en application du paragraphe 6.2(1), établir un programme de pêche sélective dans toute zone qu’il précise pour permettre la conservation d’une espèce de poisson et promouvoir la pêche d’espèces dont les stocks sont sains.
End of inserted block6.21 (1) The Minister may, as part of a measure implemented under subsection 6.1(1) or a plan developed under subsection 6.2(1), establish a selective fishing program in any area that the Minister specifies to allow for the conservation of a species of fish and to promote the fishing of species of which there are healthy stocks.

(2) Le ministre peut imposer toute obligation qu’il estime nécessaire pour la mise en œuvre du programme de pêche sélective, notamment restreindre, en vue de prévenir la pêche accidentelle des espèces de poissons touchées, l’utilisation de tout type d’engin ou d’équipement de pêche ou de tout type de bateau de pêche dans la zone précisée, exiger la remise des prises accidentelles à l’eau indemnes et exiger le marquage des poissons d’écloserie.
End of inserted block(2) The Minister may impose any obligation that the Minister considers to be necessary for the implementation of a selective fishing program, including restricting, for the purpose of preventing the unintended catching of the affected species of fish, the use of any type of fishing gear or equipment or fishing vessel in the specified area, requiring the return to the water unharmed of any fish that was caught unintentionally and requiring the marking of hatchery fish.
