SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act to require that, in the awarding of certain contracts, preference be given to projects that promote the use of wood.

An Act to amend the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act (use of wood) |

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1 Section 7 of the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (1):
Use of wood
Start of inserted block(1.1) In awarding contracts for the construction, maintenance or repair of public works, federal real property or federal immovables, the Minister shall give preference to projects that promote the use of wood, taking into account the associated costs and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
