SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi canadienne sur la protection de l’environnement (1999) afin d’interdire la fabrication, l’utilisation, la vente, la mise en vente ou l’importation de certaines substances toxiques qui constituent un danger appréciable soit pour l’environnement, soit pour la vie ou la santé humaines.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 to prohibit the manufacture, use, sale, offer for sale or import of certain toxic substances that cause significant danger to the environment or to human life or health.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1 La Loi canadienne sur la protection de l’environnement (1999) est modifiée par adjonction, après l’article 94, de ce qui suit :
1 The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 is amended by adding the following after section 94:

94.2 (1) Les ministres peuvent, par décret, inscrire à l’annexe 2.1 une substance figurant à la liste des substances toxiques de l’annexe 1 s’ils croient que l’inscription est nécessaire afin de parer à un danger appréciable soit pour l’environnement, soit pour la vie ou la santé humaines, ou en radier toute substance.
End of inserted block94.2 (1) The Ministers may, by order, add to Schedule 2.1 a substance specified on the List of Toxic Substances in Schedule 1, if they believe that doing so is required to deal with a significant danger to the environment or to human life or health, or delete any substance from Schedule 2.1.

(2) Avant l’inscription de toute substance à l’annexe 2.1 ou la radiation de toute substance de cette annexe, le ministre donne au comité la possibilité de formuler des conseils aux ministres.
End of inserted block(2) Before a substance is added to or deleted from Schedule 2.1, the Minister shall give the Committee an opportunity to advise the Ministers.

3 The Act is amended by adding, after Schedule 2, Schedule 2.1 set out in the Schedule to this Act.

4 La présente loi entre en vigueur un an après la date de sa sanction.
4 This Act comes into force one year after the day on which it receives royal assent.
