SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Access to Information Act

(a) to provide for increased access to information created by the Auditor General of Canada or the Commissioner of Official Languages for Canada in the course of conducting investigations and audits;

(b) to provide for increased access to audit working papers related to internal audits of government institutions; and

(c) to authorize the disclosure of otherwise-exempt information where the public interest in doing so clearly outweighs any harm that may result from the disclosure.

SOMMAIRE

Le texte modifie la Loi sur l’accès à l’information de façon à :

a) prévoir un meilleur accès aux renseignements créés par le vérificateur général du Canada ou le commissaire aux langues officielles du Canada dans le cadre d’un examen, d’une enquête ou d’une vérification;

b) prévoir un meilleur accès aux documents de travail se rapportant à la vérification interne d’une institution fédérale;

c) autoriser la communication de renseignements protégés, si l’intérêt public justifie nettement les préjudices qui peuvent en résulter.
